Can I reapply for a different room type during this period, or only for my current room?
Returning residents can only reapply for their current room during this period. Room changes are not available as part of the renewal process.
If you’d like to apply for a different room type, you can do so once applications open to the general public. These applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Can I renew my room, and still apply for University-managed accommodation once applications open to the general public?
Once you’ve confirmed your booking, you won’t be able to apply for a different room or property unless you cancel your current booking first.
Please note that University-managed accommodation is extremely limited and in high demand. The application process is highly competitive, and securing a room is not guaranteed.
For this reason, we don’t recommend delaying your decision in hopes of applying for other University-managed options, as you may miss out on securing a room on-campus for next year.
Can I apply for the 48-week contract option?
This option is not available for current residents during the renewal period. If you are interested, you can apply when applications open for the general public. Please note that you will not receive priority for this term session.
When will I receive the outcome?
Your renewal will be processed immediately once you complete the process. You’ll receive confirmation shortly after completing the renewal process.
What if I want to renew the contract to transfer it to my friend?
Contract transfers are not permitted. If you renew your contract for the following year and later decide to move off-campus or become ineligible to study at the University of Sydney, you will need to request a cancellation of your contract through the accommodation portal. Your room will then be allocated to students on the waitlist by order of application submission.
Do I need to pay anything?
You will need to pay a non-refundable $100 acceptance fee during the acceptance process.
Do I need to pay a deposit again?
You won’t need to pay a deposit again. The deposit you paid initially will carry over to the new contract and will be refunded to you at checkout, provided there are no additional incidental charges.
If I am a Darlington House resident, how can I renew my room?
You’ll be able to follow the same renewal process. However, please note that Darlington House will be undergoing refurbishment over the summer, so rooms will only be available on a 48-week contract for next year.
Can I cancel my renewal after confirming it?
You can cancel your renewal in line with the terms of the Residential Agreement. This means providing the required notice period, and any applicable conditions or fees will apply.
Will I keep the same room if I renew?
Yes, if you renew your contract, you will retain your current room for the next term.
What happens if I miss the renewal deadline?
If you miss the renewal deadline, you’ll need to apply through the general application process. Please note that you will no longer receive priority as a returning resident, and room availability may be limited.
