Congratulations on being accepted to live at The Regiment! We know many of our new arrivals will have lots of questions so here are a few things you need to know to get you super-prepared for the move.

Checking in procedure for new arrivals

All you need to do is bring your University of Sydney Student ID (SID) OR any Photo ID such as drivers licence or a passport will be fine should you not have your SID already.

  • You will be issued an accommodation card which you will use to gain access to the building and your room.;
  • You then must complete a room inventory to ensure everything is present and in order in your room (You will have 2 days to complete this); If you fail to complete this via the student portal within 48 hours of arrival, we will assume you are satisfied with your room;

Reception is open Mon to Fri 9am-6pm and Sat-Sun 10am-3pm. Outside of office hours push the intercom button on the front door or call the duty manager on (02) 8043 7778  as we have staff on site working 24/7.

How to get to REG

Address: Sydney University Regiment Building, Darlington NSW 2008. The main entrance through the Stone wall, next to the King St opp Carillon Ave bus stop (ID 200818). Taxi’s and Uber usually pick up/drop off on the corner of Darlington road and Golden Grove street, this is located near the Darlington road entrance of the building.

Coming from the airport?
 Catch a taxi or shuttle bus directly to REG or the train to Central station, then it is a short taxi or bus ride to REG.

Mastering public transport?
 From Central station you can catch any of the buses numbered: 423, 426, 428, 430 from bus stand L at Railway Square. Get off at the bus stop King St opp Carillon Ave bus stop (ID 200818), it’s a short 1-minute walk from here.

Or are you the lucky one with a car?
 You can park outside REG entrance (5 min car parking) to unload your stuff, unfortunately there is no long term parking at REG and Residents are not eligible for street parking permits so you will have to arrange your own parking if you have a car.

What to bring

Save money by bringing supplies from home (as long as you’re allowed!) and for everything else you need; you can check out Broadway Shopping Centre – it’s just a 5-minute bus ride away.

All standard single bedrooms are furnished with a single double bed, bedside cupboard, study desk with chair, overhead shelving, desk lamp, wardrobe, mini refrigerator, fan, electric heater, and TV, however you will need to bring other items with you like:

• Bed Linen (Double bed size)
• Pillows
• Quilt
• Coat Hangers
 • Towels

For your convenience, (particularly for those who are getting straight off a plane), the facility has kitchen and linen packs available for purchase before you arrive. To order these log into your Portal (where you applied for your room), add it to your cart and pay for it before you arrive. You can do all of this online and collect on arrival – It’s so it’s easy.

For cooking in the common areas we provide ovens, microwaves, stove tops, hydro taps for hot water, toasters and sandwich presses. You will need to provide your own cooking pans, pots, utensils, etc. and keep them in your kitchen locker. You will need to bring for your own plates, cutlery, mugs and glasses.

Get social (media)!

Our Facebook page is the best way to stay updated on all info and events happening in the area.

If you’re an Instagram lover, search @usyd.reg and follow us!

We will be holding our own REG Semester 2 O-Week; please keep an eye out for these events and ticketing via our Facebook page which will be advertised closer to the time.

Compulsory Welcome Orientation

All residents will need to come down to one of our Welcome Orientations. The short presentation will give you the chance to meet staff, resident assistants, new friends and covers an introduction to REG Life, rules, health and safety, and upcoming events. We will also cover any questions you may have about your new home. The dates of these events will be emailed to you at a later date, they will fall on a variety of days and times to give everyone a chance to attend.
